City In A Forest

Atlanta Art Fair 2025 | Pullman Yards

Forest scene

An immersive installation created in collaboration with Chanell Angeli, commissioned by Fulton County Arts & Culture's Public Art Futures Lab and premiered at the Atlanta Art Fair 2025.

Inspired by a remarkable fact: Atlanta has the densest tree canopy of any major US city. This installation transforms the booth into an encounter with nature using projection, illusion, and a layered environment of living and hybrid forest.

The Inspiration

Atlanta's nickname "City in a Forest" became the creative springboard for this work. The installation celebrates the unique relationship between urban life and the natural world that defines Atlanta's character.

The Technology

Webcam technology is presented in an unconventional manner, deliberately distorted to display only silhouettes rather than identifiable individuals. This design choice contrasts technology's often isolating nature with something vibrant and engaging.

The Collaboration

Created with Chanell Angeli, this partnership amplified the work's ability to resonate with Atlanta audiences in fresh ways. The collaborative process was essential to bringing the installation's vision to life.

The Commission

Commissioned by Fulton County Arts & Culture's Public Art Futures Lab, this marked an exciting opportunity to show alongside internationally known artists at the Atlanta Art Fair for the first time.
